Michael Walker Pretorius
Michael was exceptional in every way.
He was a talented singer and songwriter, an accomplished collegiate athlete, an actor, a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and inspiring friend and co-worker.
Michael was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer his senior year of college at the age of 21. He initially underwent chemotherapy and surgery to remove tumors and was cancer free for 5 years. A routine follow-up revealed the cancer returned, the week after Michael and Amanda celebrated 3 years of marriage.
Through surgery and radiation, conventional doctors told him the diagnosis was terminal. At 27 years old, Michael chose hope against all odds. He took an integrative approach to healing through partnership with mentors and Hope4Cancer.
Michael made lifestyle changes that impacted his vitality for the better and continued to fight for life for 3 years. More than anything, he would want you to know that diet changes, therapies, and supplements helped physically in a lot of ways, but the biggest transformation and healing happened in his soul. His thoughts, attitude, and faith were refined through this healing journey where he truly discovered peace. He said, whether or not his body was healed, his spirit had been healed by the revelation of Jesus Christ’s love.
He outlived the terminal timeline conventional doctors gave him and passed in peace on July 31, 2022.
Michael was unapologetically authentic and made beautiful ripples in space everywhere he went. He was satisfied by the simple joys in life like a cup of coffee, a friend, and his golden retriever, Tres.
Michael’s tenacity and faith in the miraculous continue to inspire others to live with boldness, authenticity, and unconditional love.
